"She said she’s a hundred percent in if we want," the film's director Gavin O’Connor said of Kendrick.
Even though The Accountant 2 just released, there’s already conversations going on regarding a third film.
Specifically, the film’s director Gavin O’Connor, recently told the New York Times in a joint interview with its star Ben Affleck, that he’d like to bring back Anna Kendrick‘s character Dana if there is a third movie. The actress played Christian’s (played by Affleck) love interest in the 2016 film.
When asked if there were plans for another movie, Affleck mentioned that he wanted to ask Bill Dubuque, the screenwriter, and O’Connor and added that he was “just waiting for another great script.”

O’Connor noted, “One thing we’ve talked about is the idea of bringing Anna Kendrick back. Maybe Christian can finally get the love that he deserves.”
Affleck then said how he hopes Kendrick “still likes us” to which O’Connor responded, “Actually, Ben, she and I have been texting. She said she’s a hundred percent in if we want.”
While Christian’s romance with Dana is a desired storyline for a next project, the focus of the second film was more about his relationship with his brother Braxton (played by Jon Bernthal).
“People have asked about Anna Kendrick’s [absence], but she was never intended to be in the second movie,” O’Connor recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was always about bringing the brothers together so they can try to fix things with each other. That’s really what we wanted to explore. These are two guys that are searching for human connection and love, which we can all relate to. So I love the idea of exploring stories of brothers.”
O’Connor also told THR that the movies were “always intended it to be a trilogy” and that “it will not be another nine years before we do our third one.”
The Accountant 2 is now out in theaters.
